Silence of the Polar Bears
Material: Acrylic, Sea glass
Silence of the polar bears is a project that I am working on to practice colour mixing. I combined polar bear illustrations with sea glass. Through this artwork, I want to deliver a message that will grab attention about our beautiful and irreplaceable oceans. I want to convince humans to live in a less harmful way for our environment and co-exist peacefully.
Illustrated Comparison of Different Habitats.
Before - I drew the outline of polar bears in a terrible environment on tracing paper.
After - When readers see the next page they can compare the differences between the paintings on tracing and craft paper, which is coloured.
This is a social media event, using pictures to tell people information you want to talk about. I used black ink to describe marine pollution and I considered the colour white as an iceberg.
Step 1.
Ink dropped on wet paper.
Step 2.
Painting white acrylic colour on paper. I had to do it several times because it is hard to recover black ink.
Step 3.
Used Photoshop to combine polar bear illustration with ink painting. I added shadows to make the illustration fit the ink painting.
Solo Exhibition
This exhibition is held at a coffee shop in Tainan, where I displayed fifty pieces of polar bear illustration. I made a graph to explain to people about what sea glass is and it was a big step towards improving my confidence in drawing technique and communication skills.

This exhibition tends to be more eco-friendly, so I used natural material to make frames such as bamboo. From that experience, I learned how to organise an exhibition and establish social media to show people my drawings.
Floating fishing balls in the exhibition came from different countries, I collected them from the beach in Taiwan.
